Austin J. Mamou, Sr.

Breaux Bridge - A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Austin J. Mamou, Sr., 79, who passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at River Oaks Retirement Manor. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 am until 10:30 am on Wednesday. A rosary will be prayed at 8:00 am on Wednesday. Deacon Jim Davis will officiate at the Funeral service. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge. Austin was a cement finisher for many years and was very good at his job. He was a great provider for his family. Austin will be dearly missed. He is survived by his loving spouse Vesta Mamou; sons, Joseph Linton Mamou and Austin Mamou, Jr. and wife Glenella; daughters, Sandra M. Parker and husband Harold, Jr., Mary M. Duncan, Rose M. White and husband Eric and Demetria Batiste; 20 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and his sisters, Ruby Peltier and Doris Rubin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arceneaux and Amelia Bonnet Mamou; grandchild, O'Bryan Parker; daughter-in-law, Mary Lee Mamou; brothers, Louis, Sr., Dalton, Ashby, Andrew, and Steven Mamou; and sisters, Eula McKnight and Inez Jones. Pallbearers will be Samuel Mamou, Immanuel Mamou, Joseph Mamou, Austin Mamou III, Dillen Mamou, O'Neil Parker, Karnell Duncan, Blaine Arceneaux and Thaddeus Benoit.
