St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, January 20, 2020, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Ava Nicole Douet, 14, who passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2020, at Iberia Medical Center.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 12:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday, and continue on Monday at 7:00 am until 10:00 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Sunday.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial. Readers will be Kim Hebert and Kelly Breaux. Gift bearers will be Celine Gulotta and Devin Guidry.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Ava was a ninth grader at Loreauville High School. She loved to dance, sing, shop, do her nails, play volleyball, and practice driving to get her license. Everyone loved her pure and compassionate heart. She was like the second mom of the family who cared and watched out for her brothers. Ava loved to spend time with her many cousins and had a special bond with her, "NeNe." She will be dearly missed by who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her parents, Kevin and Katie Hebert Douet; brothers, Ayden Douet, Alec Douet, and Kohen Douet; paternal grandparents, Karl and Gwen Douet; maternal grandmother, Phyllis Frederick; maternal grandfather, Kelly Hebert and spouse Tracy; paternal great grandmother, Marian Melancon; maternal great grandparents, Ronnie and Barbara Guidroz; maternal great grandmother, Barbara Oglesby; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her paternal great grandfather, A.J. Melancon; paternal great grandparents, Rita and John Douet; and maternal great grandfather, Mike Hebert.
Pallbearers will be Kim Douet, Ben Gulotta, Karl Douet Jr., Kody Hebert, Richard Guidry, and Casey Romero.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ayden Douet, Alec Douet, Kohen Douet, Kade Hebert, Kole Hebert, Kory Douet, and Kyle Douet.
The family requests that visitors wear Ava's favorite colors, purple and turquoise, for the funeral.
