Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Azma Soloman Goodie, 91, who passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2015.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:00 am until 10:00 am on Saturday, at the Carver Street Chapel. A rosary will be prayed at 8:00 am on Saturday.
Rev. Joseph Campion will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia.
Mrs. Goodie was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of St. Francis of Assisi. Azma enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, playing Bingo, and attending family gatherings, especially for Thanksgiving and Christmas when she prepared her special meals. She will be remembered by all who loved her because of her kindness towards others and a smile that left wonderful memories. Azma loved her God and attended Mass on a weekly basis where she received the word of God and made sure it was passed on to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Joseph Boston Goodie; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents, Valsin and Sedonia Celestine Soloman; her sons, Elton, Melvin, and Shelton Goodie; her daughters, Velma Goodie and Mary Lewis; her brother, Junior Soloman; and her sisters, Edith Soloman William, Elvish Soloman Borel, Mae Soloman Davis, Mary Ann Soloman Borel, and Denise Soloman Celestine.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Goodie, Christopher Goodie, Demetrius Goodie, Jared Goodie, Scory Demouchette, and Shelton Parker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mckenzie Simpson, Rasheeda Williams, Casha Demouchette, Melvin Goodie Jr., and Quentin Thibodeaux.
