New Iberia - Billy Jack Cain, 82, of New Iberia died May 15th from complications of liver cancer. He was born in Kaufman County, Texas on February 9, 1930 to Emzie Jackson and Elizabeth Carey Cain.
He was a Korean War combat veteran, having retired from the United States Marine Corps. He was a graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas where he majored in public relations and advertising. He was employed by the Mid-City Daily News in Hurst, Texas before moving to Franklin, Louisiana as editor-publisher of the Franklin Banner-Tribune. He also had business interests in various cafes and bars in Texas and Louisiana.
He had a great sense of humor and could always tell a good story. He enjoyed making new friends and was always ready to lend a hand. His interests were reading, photography and old cars.
Survivors include his wife, Gale Bouton Cain, son, Matthew "Matt" Cain, daughters, Damion 'Dee Dee' Cain Guillory and Scarlett Cain Landry, step-son Danny Boudoin, 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sumiko Cain, son, Anthony "Tony" Cain, and sister, Jo Alice Brewer of Arlington, Texas.
