New Iberia - Memorial services will be held at 4:00 pm on Monday, January 7, 2019, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for B. Lee Fournet, 92, who passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018, in New Iberia.
Interment will be at a later date.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 3:00 pm until time of service at Pellerin Funeral Home.
A longtime area resident, Mr. Fournet was born on August 21, 1926 to the late Walter Fournet, Sr. and Lillian Richard, and proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy. After the military, he followed his passion of law enforcement first working for the Louisiana State Police and then the St. Martin Parish Sheriff Department. In 1964, Mr. Fournet moved to New Iberia where he served as Chief of Police until his retirement in 1984.
Survivors include his daughter, Valery LeBlanc and husband Kevin of New Iberia; sons, Ernie Fournet and wife Kathy of New Iberia, Kerry Fournet and wife Sheree of Longmont, Colorado; son-in-law, Matt Bourque of Arizona; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Chataignier Fournet, and a daughter, Dr. Lee Marie Fournet.
The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana, especially Marcie and Seth, for their care and compassion.
