Breaux Bridge - A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Barbara Celestine Alex, 71, who passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at her residence. Father Charles Moffatt will officiate at the service. Barbara was a very devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many - a woman who considered that giving of herself and her time to any cause or anyone in need was her way of giving back to God. She loved to cook for family and friends, and treated everyday as though it were a holiday. To her preparing meals and doing daily chores was no big deal - it was what she lived for and what she loved to do. Survivors include her husband, Anthony Alex of Breaux Bridge; three sons, Michael A. Alex (Belinda) of Brownsville, TX, David F. Alex (Mary) of Lafayette, and Kenneth Lee Alex of Breaux Bridge; one daughter, Pamela Ann Alex of Breaux Bridge; four brothers, Patrick Celestine (Ruth), Joseph Celestine (Mary), Norris Celestine (Judy), and John Celestine, Sr. (Norma), all of Houston, TX; and four grandchildren, Brittney Alex, Keyon Alex, Eric Davison, and Brianna Alex. She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice Celestine and Anna Mae Arceneaux; and her sister, Delzora Bergeron. Pellerin Funeral Homeis in charge of arrangements.
