Bobby Savoie Mooney

Lydia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia for Bobby Savoie Mooney, 81, who passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022.

Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery.

Rev. Randy Courville will be the Celebrant.

Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home and will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 am until 9:15 am.

A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm on Monday.

A resident of Lydia, Barbara "Bobby" Savoie Mooney was born in New Iberia on April 13, 1940 to the late Oswald and Elita Hoffpauir Savoie. She worked as a telephone operator for South Central Bell for many years, then later worked at Cane River Pecan Company.  She was a longtime faithful member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia, and her hobbies included cooking, reading, playing cards, going to the casino, and traveling.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her children, Lynn Mooney (Robin) of New Iberia, Todd Mooney (Molly) of Baton Rouge, Caprice Cummings (Glenn) of Ellijay, Georgia, and Monique Wilburn (Mickey) of New Iberia; grandchildren, Malachi Mooney (Amy), Matthew Mooney, Laura Mooney Greene (Pedey), Jessica Mooney, Brooke Cummings, Bradley Cummings, and Gracie Wilburn; great grandchildren, Lucas Mooney, Breanna Greene, Avril Greene, Marley Lalonde, Sophia Mooney, and one due to arrive in July.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Benny Don Mooney; a son, Jason Mooney; sisters, Judy Savoie Champagne, Joy Heywood, Velma LeBlanc, and Joan Savoie.
