Barbara R. Thibodeaux New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 6, 2017, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Coteau, for Barbara R. Thibodeaux, 77, who passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, in Lafayette. Rev. Keith Landry will be the Celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM, with Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until 10:15 AM. Entombment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Barbara Lee Romero Thibodeaux was born on October 6, 1939 to the late Etienne and Enola Dore Romero. She was a native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, and worked as the office manager for Dr. Francis Bonin for 25 years. Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Simon "Pete" Thibodeaux, Jr.; a son, Simon "Si" Thibodeaux, III and wife Michelle B. Thibodeaux of New Iberia; two daughters, Kim Mestayer and husband Tab of Dry Creek, and Anissa Desormeaux and husband Rodney of Broussard; a brother, Dr. James Russell Romero and wife Delores of Loreauville; seven grandchildren, Lance Mestayer, Jobb Mestayer, Hope M. Stanford, Drake Thibodeaux, Donovan Derouen, Jr., Faith Thibodeaux, and Dylan Desormeaux; and five great-grandchildren, Saige Mestayer, Jude Stanford, Landon Mestayer, Noah Stanford, and Ava Thibodeaux. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandchild, Rivers Thibodeaux. Pallbearers will be Simon "Si" Thibodeaux III, Lance Mestayer, Jobb Mestayer, Drake Thibodeaux, Donovan Derouen Jr., and Landon Mestayer. Honorary pallbearers are Rodney Desormeaux, Tab Mestayer, Dr. James Russell Romero, and Andrus Thibodeaux. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Barbara's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Center, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN, 38101.
