New Iberia - Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 20 2013, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Barbara E. Zeigler, 55, who died on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 in New Iberia. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Rev. Gregory Chauvin. will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Wednesday. Visitation will continue Thursday from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM. Born on September 29, 1957, Barbara was a long time resident of New Iberia, and worked as a cafeteria nutrition technician for the Iberia Parish School Board. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, camping, fishing, and barrel racing. However, Barbaras true passion was riding horses, especially her horse 'Willie'. Survivors include her companion of 30 years, Curtis J. Sonnier, Sr. of New Iberia; sons, Nicholas Zeigler and Hunter Zeigler both of New Iberia; Curtis children, Patricia Bonin and husband Johnny of St. Martinville, Lisa Maturin, Debbie Freyou, Curtis J. Sonnier, Jr., and Chris J. Sonnier all of New Iberia; brothers, Perry Zeigler, Lloyd Zeigler, Melvin Zeigler, and Ronnie Zeigler all of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Kamron Zeigler and Ezsmey Benoit; her beloved horse, 'Willie', and her pet dog 'Angel'. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Zeigler and Sarah Jane Hart; brother, Frank Zeigler; grandson, Jaret Freyou; great grandson, Eyan Paul Hernandez; Curtis parents Romain Sonnier, Sr., and Louise Sonnier; and her dog 'Missy'. Pallbearers will be Nicholas Zeigler, Hunter Zeigler, Johnny Bonin, Derrick Vines, Romain Sonnier, Jr., Brice Freyou, Justin Freyou and Samuel 'Moy' Hernandez.
