Cecilia - A Memorial Service will be held at 12 noon, on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in Cecilia, for Barry Edwin Chandler, 66, who passed away on Friday, April 24, 2015, at his residence.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 am until 11:45 am on Saturday.
Barry was raised in Sulphur, Louisiana, graduated from Sulphur High School, and was a veteran of the United States Army who served in the Vietnam War. He was passionate and steadfast about his beliefs. He loved to read, enjoyed watching funny movies, gardening and fishing. He was a creative writer and had a beautiful way with words. He was a compassionate, kind and loving man. He loved animals, especially dogs, and would often rescue them and nurse them back to health. Prior to his passing, he had been loyally caring for three strays that had been abandoned near his home on various occasions throughout the years. His greatest joy was his time spent with his children and grandchildren, at home or at the park or fishing. He would always have treats waiting for his grandchildren when they came to visit as he always did for his children when he came home from work or they came home from school. He religiously kept treats for his canine children. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his children Angel Chandler Morton (Ruel Morton) of Longview, TX, Chris Chandler (Leslie Chandler) of Arvada, CO, Taffi Chandler Poirot and Brandon Poirot, of Ragley, LA, Traci Lea Chandler of Atlanta, GA, and Troy Grason Chandler (Leslie Marie Chandler) of Breaux Bridge, LA; two sisters, Shirley Comeaux (Ray Comeaux) of Dequincy, LA, and Sandy Harris (Todd Harris) of Pikeville, NC; 10 grandchildren, Kourtney Howard-Crow of Fayetteville, NC, Sydney Chandler of College Station, TX, Landon Hayes Morton of Longview, TX, Lauren Renee Chandler of Bailey, CO, Tori Michelle Chandler of Arvada, CO, Jacob Eugene Baswell of Atlanta, GA, Gaige Louis Dugas, Gabrielle Marie Dugas, Grasey Mae Chandler of all of Breaux Bridge, and Aralynne Poirot of Ragley, LA; and 2 great grandchildren, Arson and Range Howard-Crow of Fayetteville, NC.
