Becky was a graduate of Breaux Bridge High School. She was a L.P.N. and worked in the healthcare industry for many years prior to her retirement, having worked for several physicians in Lafayette and St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge.
As a pastime, she loved cooking and baking for her family and friends. Becky loved spending time in Destin, Florida. It was her favorite place to relax and enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of her surroundings. One of Becky’s greatest joys was spending time with her two grandsons, John and Andrew. They loved their “Ma Beck” immensely and she loved them just as much. She especially enjoyed their recent vacation to Walt Disney World in November. It was a trip to remember and one that she treasured.
Becky was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and a friend to anyone who was blessed to have known her. She was always there for her family and friends in time of need, often offering her advice, care, and support in whatever way they needed. She always put others before herself. Becky’s strength and her courage were an inspiration to many, and she was loved by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her two loving sons, who were her world, Eric Yongue, and his wife, Courtney, of Lafayette and Shane Yongue of Baton Rouge; two grandsons, John and Andrew Yongue; the father of her children, Paul Yongue of Breaux Bridge; her brother, David Bernard, and his wife, Debra, of Covington, GA; her sisters, Marsha D'Aunoy, and her husband, Ronnie, of Lafayette and Aleta McBane of Breaux Bridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Lowell “Sonny” Thomas Bernard and Audrey Ann Champagne Bernard.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael McBane, Jeremy McBane, Marc D’Aunoy, Ryan Bernard, and Brent Bernard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Miles Perret Cancer Services, 2130 Kaliste Saloom Rd., Lafayette, LA 70508.
