Bernard "Bern" George

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, March 18, 2022, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Bernard “Bern” George, 67, who passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville from 7:00 am until 11:00 am on Friday.

A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am on Friday.

Rev. Abelardo Gabriel, SVD will officiate at the Funeral Mass.

Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Broussard.

Bernard enjoyed fishing, dancing, and being a jokester.  He was considered the life of the party for family events and could make you laugh even when you didn't want to. Bernard will be remembered for his love for life and his wonderful sense of humor.  

He is survived by his mother, Mary Joyce George; daughters, Kenya Filer (Bracan), Talanna George (Aleshia) and Raniyah George; son, Tawyn Isadore; brothers, John Cleveland George, Jr. and Chris Anthony George (Lisa); three sisters, Rose George Chratian, Savannah Chretien, and Edith Roberts; grandchildren, Kiyondrae Flier, Braquel George and Kaemon George; great grandchild, Makhai Maddox; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, John C. George; paternal grandparents, Anita and Nicholas George; maternal grandparents, Samson and Ida  Savoy; maternal grandparent, Edith Champ Savoy; and brother-in-law, Wayne C. Roberts, Sr.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Simon, Jr., Bryan C. Simon,  Antione Joseph Pete, Brandon Roberts, Terrance Chretien, and Ryan Chretien.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Cleveland George, Jr, Chris Anthony George, Bryce Roberts, Tawyan Isadore, Bracan Filer, Alvin Jones, Sr., Leroy Banks, Mike Alexander, Patrick Mouton, and Larry Polite
