VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Bert Harris Delahoussaye, 58, who passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Entombment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville. Msgr. J. Douglas Courville will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Members of his family will read the Scriptures and Gift Bearers will be Taylor Akers, Staci Fuselier, and Courtni Delahoussaye. Bert was a veteran of the United States Army having proudly and honorably served his country in the Vietnam War. He enjoyed researching genealogy, anthems (music), and was an avid collector of flags. Bert had many special friends and was known as being a "kid at heart". He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his brother, Paul Delahoussaye, of St. Martinville; his three sisters, Julie Fuselier and her husband, Charles "Chip" Fuselier, Jr., of St. Martinville, Anne Akers and her husband, Clyde F. "Dig" Akers, III, of Parks, and Deena Dugas and her husband, Daniel, of St. Martinville; and his nieces and nephews, Aubrey, Brendon, and Shannon Lanerie, Charles "Chase", Lauren, and Staci Fuselier, Courtni Delahoussaye, and Taylor (his goddaughter) and Estella Akers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ward and Barbara Margot Harris Delahoussaye. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3:30 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Friday and continue at 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. on Friday evening. Pallbearers will be Brendon Lanerie, Chase Fuselier, Freddie Foti, Daniel Dugas, and Clyde "Dig" Ackers, III. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
