Lydia - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, January 27, 2013 , at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia , for Bertha Gobert Edgar, 84, who passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Lafayette General Hospital. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd., in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Friday. Visitation will continue Saturday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia from 7:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery in Jeanerette. Rev. Gregory Chauvin will conduct the services. Readers will be Rachael Fontenette, Bridget St. Andr, and Jamie Fruge. Gift Bearers will be her grandchildren. Mrs. Bertha was a member of the Holy Name. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially during her favorite holiday, Christmas. Survivors include her sons, Allen Edgar (Joanie) of Breaux Bridge, and Daniel Edgar of Franklin; her daughters, Janice Broussard (Michael) of New Iberia, Bertha St. Andr (Bervin) of Mallet, and Cothelia Frug (Ronald) of Lawtell; her sister, Ida Mae Broussard of Los Angeles, CA; her 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Edgar; her parents Solomon and Ella Dice Gobert; her daughter, Rose Broussard; her grandson, Lawrence Edgar; her brothers, Willis Gobert, Anderson Gobert, and David Gobert; her sisters, Freida Frilot, Hilda Bellard, Belleuh Lacompt, Vercie Ledet, Mary Gobert, Anna Fontenot, and Irene Chretian. Pallbearers will be Allen (Frosty) Edgar, Jr., Joey Edgar, Joseph St. Andr, Jimmy Atkins, Ronald Fruge III, Rufus Louis Frug. Honorary pallbearers will be Dwayne Edgar, Allen Edgar, Daniel Edgar, Michael Broussard, Ronad Frug, Bervin St. Andr, Byron St. Andr, Jonathan Broussard, Cole Edgar, Dorion Edgar, Brandon St. Andr, Brian St. Andr, Joshua Vaughn, Dionte Broussard, John Tauriac, III, Matthew St. Andr, Richard Brown, Leonard Fontenette, Gabriel Edgar, and Aiden Edgar.
