Bertha Mae Mitchell

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, February 23, 2018, at Notre Dame Catholic Church for Bertha Mae Mitchell, 79, who passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at New Iberia Manor North. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Church from 7:00 am until funeral service at 11:00 am on Friday. A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 am on Friday. Rev. Michael Sucharski, SVD will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville. Bertha was born in St. Martinville to the late Harry and Ida Jean' Louis Mitchell. She enjoyed cleaning houses before working as a CNA for over 10 years. Bertha loved to help take care of others. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Colomb and husband Leonard; sons, Darrell Mitchell and wife Delores, and Maxie B. Mitchell and wife Brenda G. James; sisters, Rose Mitchell, Ida Mitchell, Lillia Mitchell Clement, and Janzina Thibodeaux; brothers, Horace Lewis and wife Milda, and Ervin Mitchell; 9 grandchildren, Jade Colomb, Alyssa Colomb, Melisa Mitchell, Shantell Mitchell, Kayla Mitchell, India Mitchell, Kareem Mitchell, Whitney Phillips, and Precious Bonhomme; 6 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Ida Jean' Louis Mitchell. Pallbearers will be Kareem Mitchell, Whitney Phillips, Mitchell Louis Sr., Jeffrey Mitchell, Mitchell Louis Jr., and Jerry Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Mitchell, Maxie B. Mitchell, Horace Lewis, Leonard Colomb, Warren Milson, Jerry Mitchell, and Terry Mitchell. Pellerin Funeral Home (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
