New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 31, 2017, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia, for Bertha Hanks Tenney, 91, who passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at her home.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday, with Recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 PM, led by the Catholic Daughters. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM.
Rev. Buddy Breaux will be the Celebrant. Travis Bouton and Alison Breaux will read Scripture, and Joshua Tenney and Grace Boutte will serve at gift-bearers.
Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in New Iberia.
A resident of New Iberia, Bertha Hanks Tenney was born in Rayne, LA on March 13, 1926 to the late Joseph and Solange Roberts Hanks. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister for masses, as well as to the homebound. She was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters, and formerly volunteered at St. Francis Diner and Dauterive Hospital. Bertha was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and enjoyed traveling with friends.
Bertha is survived by daughters, Linda Hebert and husband Preston of New Iberia, Gale Collins and husband Jerry of New Iberia, Sandy Bourque and husband Olan of Maurice, Cathy Bouton and husband Ulysse, Jr. of New Iberia; and Robin Breaux and husband Steve of New Iberia, LA; sons, Randy Tenney and wife Vickie of St. Martinville, Mark Tenney of New Iberia, and Ricky Tenney and wife Annette of St. Martinville; sisters, Mildred Boudreaux, and Connie Pellerin and husband Warren; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Allen Phillip Tenney, Sr., son, Allen Phillip Tenney, Jr., sisters, Bernice Mason, Mable Dionne, and Martha Sipple, brothers, Percy and Martin Hanks; and a grandchild, Chad A. LeBlanc.
Pallbearers will be Randy Tenney, Mark Tenney, Ricky Tenney, Gregory Hebert, William Collins, and Brad A. LeBlanc.
Honorary pallbearers are Danielle Tenney, Eddie Breaux, and Casey Bourque.
