New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 31, 2017, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in New Iberia for Betty Breaux, 88, who passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia on Monday from 9:00 AM until 1:30 PM.
Rev. Mike Arnaud will be the Celebrant. Holy Scripture will be read by Margaret Breaux and Kenric Inzerella. Gift bearers will be Kathy Derouen, Karen Inzerella, and Karla Landry.
Entombment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Betty Jane Savoy Breaux was born on November 24, 1928 to the late Claybert Savoy and Colastie Arceneaux Savoy. She graduated from New Iberia High School, and married Herbin "Nookie" Breaux in 1951. Together, they raised five children.
Mrs. Breaux is survived by daughters, Diane Breaux of New Iberia, Sheila Simon and husband Bill of New Iberia, and Patricia Thompson and husband Rusty of New Iberia; a son, Andrew Breaux and fiancee' Ada Duhon of Delcambre; sister, June Inzerella of New Iberia; grandchildren, Cody Simon, Elliott Thompson, Austin Breaux and wife Andrea, Jacob Thompson, and Logan Breaux; daughter-in-law, Margaret Breaux of New Iberia; longtime family friend, Kathy Jolet of New Iberia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbin "Nookie" Breaux; son, John Breaux; sisters, Bea Russo and Rena Martin; and a grandchild, Shelly Simon.
Pallbearers will be Austin and Logan Breaux, Bill and Cody Simon, and Elliott and Jacob Thompson.
Honorary pallbearers are her wonderful sitters that took such good care of our mother, Michelle and Savitra Gregoire, Trina Hogan, Milda Lewis, Otharee "Tiny" Loston, and Pinky Schexnayder.
In addition to her sitters, the family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Heart of Hospice, especially Amanda, J.J., Mel and Darrel, for extraordinary care.
