New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, December 2, 2016, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Betty Rogers Dartez, 84, who passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016, in New Iberia.
Entombment will follow in St. Marcellus Cemetery in Rynella.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate. Readers include Jennifer Romero, Jenna Simpson, and Mandy Coussan. Music for the service will be performed by Gene Picard, and Richard LeBouef will play some French music prior to the rosary.
A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary, led by the Men's Rosary Group, will be prayed at 7:00 PM Thursday. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM.
A native and lifelong resident of Iberia Parish, Mrs. Dartez was born on May 12, 1932 to Augustine and Agnes "Mignon" Harrington Rogers. Betty grew up with a love for French music from listening to her father and grandfather play for years. She also enjoyed flower gardening, and having coffee everyday with her best friends Elsie LeBlanc and Tara LeBlanc.
Survivors include her husband, Herbert "Boo" Dartez of Rynella; daughters, Julie Schaubert and husband Guy of New Iberia, Babette Romero and husband Mitch of New Iberia; son, Robert Dartez and wife Sheryl of New Iberia; brothers, Don Rogers and wife Betty of New Iberia, George Rogers and wife Gwen of New Iberia; grandchildren, Jennifer Romero, Jed Schaubert, Zachary Schaubert, Josh Dartez and wife Karlie, Megan Dartez Tjon and husband Travis, Amy Hebert Blake and husband Ben; great grandchildren, Ella Cecile Blake, Tate Joseph Tjon, Liam Joseph Tjon, and Avery Jude Dartez.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dean Robicheaux, and a brother, Jimmy Rogers.
Pallbearers will be Jed Schaubert, Zachary Schaubert, Mitch Romero, Guy Schaubert, Nick LeBlanc, and Carroll Boudreaux.
Honorary pallbearers include George and Gwen Rogers, Don and Betty Rogers, and Elsie and Tara LeBlanc.
The family would like to give special thanks to Mrs. Dartezs best friends, Elsie LeBlanc and Tara LeBlanc, caregivers, Lisa Jones-Lewis, Pearlle Jones, Liz Knight, Elaine Bourda, the staff of Consolota Nursing Home, and the staff of Heart of Hospice for their care and compassion.
