Lydia A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday, November 24, 2014 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia for Betty Guidry Eskind, 81, who died Wednesday, November 19, 2014, in Lydia.
Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Eskinds son, Msgr. Jace Eskind will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A wake service will be held at 6:00 PM Sunday. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until 9:15 AM.
Mrs. Eskind was born on November 10, 1933 in Jeanerette to Pascal and Azelia LaLande Guidry, and retired from the Morton-Weeks Federal Credit Union after 34 years of service. A member of the American Legion Auxliary Unit 365, and H2U, she enjoyed going on cruises, playing Pokeno, and going to the casino.
Survivors include her sons, Dwayne Eskind and wife Connie of Lydia, Jimmy Eskind and wife Darlene of Lydia, Msgr. Jace Eskind of Lake Charles; daughters, Brooke Mulkey and husband Prentice of Mulberry, Arkansas, Lori Migues and husband Mark of Lydia, Tammy Boudreaux and husband Tommy Boudreaux of Lydia, Shelly Broussard and husband Ward of Lydia; six grandchildren, Colby Delahoussaye and husband Jared, Paige Melancon and husband Justin, Tonya Boudreaux, Karly Eskind, Staci Delahoussaye and husband Johnathan, Tracy Domingue and husband Damion; eight great grandchildren, Hillary Eskind, Jake Eskind, Cole Delahoussaye, Connor Delahoussaye, Austin Domingue, Riley Delahoussaye, Kaiden Domingue, and Kash Melancon.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis J. Eskind; brothers, Harold Guidry, Sr., Lawrence Guidry, Sr., Ronald Guidry; sisters, Dorothy Hebert, Beatrice Daigle; and a grandchild, Albert Joseph Broussard.
Pallbearers will be Dwayne Eskind, Jimmy Eskind, Jared Delahoussaye, Justin Melancon, Johnathan Delahoussaye, and Damion Domingue.
Honorary pallbearers include Prentice Mulkey, Mark Migues, Tommy Boudreaux, Ward Broussard, and Jake Eskind.
