Ms. Poirier was born on April 26, 1941, to the late Lloyd and Elise Gary Romero, in Youngsville, where she was raised on the family farm. She began working in the school cafeteria at Delcambre Elementary and then dedicated the next 35 years to Coteau Elementary, as the cafeteria manager.
Betty spent much of her time caring for animals. However, she had a passion for baking, cooking, and sewing. Her greatest joy came from tending to her flower bed. She was known for her green thumb. Betty had a true gift for gardening.
Beyond her love of flowers, Betty also cherished the fun of visiting the casinos, with her beloved husband.
Sundays always carried a special warmth and togetherness that started in the kitchen. It was like a Piccadilly Cafeteria. Betty always had dessert, either fudge or some special sweets.
A devout Catholic, her faith was very important to her. She devoted 28 years to participating in Adoration, at her beloved church, Our Lady of Prompt Succor.
For 67 years, Betty shared her life with her soulmate, Doris. Together they built a loving family that included three sons and a daughter. Becoming a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, were roles she held, cherishing every moment with her loved ones.
Although Betty’s body grew tired, her spirit will live on through the cherished memories of all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
