Betty Babin Romero was born on September 14, 1950, in St. Martinville, Louisiana to parents, Lynn and Marie Babin. She was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Glenn, on July 13, 1968. Their 56-year union was blessed with four children: Glenn Jr., Mayo, Angela, and Cody. Betty's love extended beyond her immediate family to include her nephew, Clint, whom she cherished as her own son. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and her family was the center of her world.

A homemaker dedicated to her family and community, Betty was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Loreauville. In her children's early years, she volunteered at Loreauville Elementary, sharing her time and talents with the school. She stood by her husband's side during his political career, forming many cherished friendships along the way. Betty was an avid supporter of her children and grandchildren's sporting events. Whether cheering for the Loreauville Tigers, the Catholic High Panthers, or even the USL Ragin' Cajuns, she was their biggest fan, proudly displaying her support through team colors and jerseys.

Betty's vibrant personality and zest for life earned her the nickname "Suitcase" – she was always on the move, embracing every opportunity for fun and adventure. She lit up every room she entered and was often found dancing with a cold drink in hand and a beer perched atop her head. She enjoyed playing Bourré, trying her luck at the casino, and shopping with Toot, KK and Marlie Rae. Betty was truly unique and left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her legacy is one of joy, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Affectionately known as "Maw" by both her grandchildren and their friends, Betty's warm embrace extended beyond her family. Her famous chicken stew was a testament to her generous spirit, always made in abundance to feed her extended family and her "adopted" grandchildren. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and the love she shared with them will forever be cherished.

Betty is survived by her devoted husband, Glenn Romero Sr.; her daughter, Angela Westcott, and husband, Gary; her sons, Glenn Jr. and wife, Sandra, Mayo and wife, Michele, and Cody and wife, Garneth; nephew, Clint Simon; sister, Lena Segura; grandsons, Landon Westcott, Broc Romero and wife, Brianna, Beau Romero, Coy Romero, CJ Simon and wife, MacKenzie, Cooper Simon, and Israel Medina; granddaughters, Kaitlyn Brielle Romero, Marlie Rae Westcott, Callie Simon, Madison Simon, and Bianca Bonin; goddaughter. Jolyn Segura; nephew, Chip Romero and his wife Ali; great-grandchildren, Hadley Simon, Harrison Simon, and Aurora Medina.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her parents-in-law, Mayo and Lilie Mae Romero.

Serving as pallbearers will be Landon Westcott, Broc Romero, Beau Romero, Coy Romero, CJ Simon, and Cooper Simon.

The family expresses their sincere gratitude to Betty's caregivers: Torie Olivier, Adrianne Prados, and her goddaughter, Jolyn Segura; Traditions Hospice Care; and nurses Erin and Michelle. Their compassionate care and love for Betty were a source of comfort during her illness.
