He joined the Morgan City Police Department in 1963, and retired as Chief of Police in 1986. His first assignment as a patrolman was with the K-9 Division. Later he was promoted to the ranks of Captain and served as Traffic Supervisor.  He was also a motorcycle policer officer, and he enjoyed going to all of the Louisiana Festivals in this role. His professional training included the St. Mary Sheriff’s Dept. Law Enforcement Academy, Louisiana State University Traffic and Accident Investigation School, LSU Advanced Traffic Investigation School, National Police Department Academy, LSU School on Terrorists Tactics and Techniques, LSU Hostage Negotiations School, and three months LSU Law Enforcement Institute.  He also took numerous in-service training courses sponsored by LSU. The Retired Chief of Police Professional Affiliations included the Louisiana Associations Chief of Police, Louisiana Police Combat Pistol Association, Police Marksman Association, Louisiana Peace Officers Assn., Municipal Police Officers Assn., and the Morgan City Police Benevolent Assn. He also holds a lifetime membership in the National Rifle Assn.

Mr. Broussard married Pasty Henry, and together they had three children, Celena Cay, Michael Henry and Kevin Edward.  Beverly and Pat were blessed with five grandchildren, Falon, Cole, Anna Claire, Elizabeth Whitney, and Olivia, who were the love of his life.

Mr. Broussard loved traveling in his motor home, sitting in his easy chair watching western movies, and spending time with his family.

Mr. Broussard is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Patsy Henry Broussard; two sons, Michael Henry and Kevin Broussard (Christine Whitney Broussard); and five grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Broussard was preceded in death by his daughter, Celena Cay; three brothers-in-law, John Terry Henry, Chester Henry Jr., and Bernard LaGrange.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of New Iberia Manor South; IMC Rehab Unit; and Hospice of Acadiana for extraordinary care and compassion.
