Beverly was born on February 27, 1937, to the late Julian Charles Butaud and Halli Hanna Butaud. A graduate of New Iberia Senior High and the University of Louisiana Lafayette, Beverly's career was marked by dedication and compassion towards those under her care. She retired as the Director at Professional Home Health Services, where she made a significant impact on the lives of countless patients and their families. Her unwavering commitment to providing quality care will forever be remembered.
She was a longtime member of the First Methodist Church of New Iberia.
Outside of her profession, Beverly had a deep appreciation for nature. The beauty of flowers and the towering presence of large oak trees brought her immense joy. She cherished her flower potting station, lovingly built by her husband Jay, where she would spend hours nurturing and tending to her floral creations.
In addition to her love for nature, Beverly had a fondness for bluegrass music. The infectious melodies would fill her heart with happiness, but it was the Chicken Song that always made her smile. Amongst her favorite singers, Josh Turner held a special place in her heart.
The vibrant color green captured Beverly's imagination and was undoubtedly her favorite. It represented growth, renewal, and the vitality she carried throughout life. Green served as a reminder of how she embraced each day with hope and optimism.
Not only did Beverly possess an appreciation for artistry in nature and music, but she herself was an artist of movement. She found joy in tap dancing and immersing herself in the rhythmic world of clogging. Her graceful steps were a testament to the vitality and passion she exuded.
The family grew up with relatives, who moved to Kerrville, Texas. They would always spend holidays together. Becky Ross was like a sister to her. Traveling and visiting craft shows were also activities that brought Beverly great delight. Exploring new places enriched her spirit, while discovering unique handmade treasures sparked inspiration within her creative soul.
Beverly Butaud Leger will be deeply missed by all those whose lives she touched.
Mrs. Leger is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jay Leger; children, Holland Jay Leger (Danielle), Michael Scott Leger (Lyn), and Chrys Leger Bouton; grandchildren, Hanna Lea Bouton and Trinity Renee Leger; and a brother, Julian “Bud” Butaud.
