New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 26, 2016, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Billie Jean Stracener Boney, 71, who passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, in Lafayette. Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A longtime resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Boney was born on March 28, 1945 in Longview, Texas to the late Vern and Helen Stracener. She was Director of Nursing for 28 years at Heritage Manor North Nursing Home in New Iberia, and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, fishing, crocheting, and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Roy Boney of New Iberia; daughter, Lisa Sorrel and husband John Sorrel, Jr. of New Iberia; son, Jeffery Boney and wife Angie of New Iberia; grandchildren, Natasha, Justin, Tristen, Shayna, and Lexie; sister, Cathy Stracener of Wilmington, NC; and 8 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Michelle Boney; a son, Steve Scott Boney; and a grandson, Scottie Boney.
