Bonnie was born on July 2, 1955 in Arnaudville. As St. Bernard Catholic School Aftercare Director, Bonnie became an integral part of the lives of both students and staff members alike for the past 37 years. Her warm smile and nurturing nature created an environment of love and support that reverberated throughout the corridors. She was always there to lend an empathetic ear, offer guidance, or simply brighten someone's day.
Bonnie possessed a multitude of passions and interests that enriched her life. She had a deep love for reading and found peace in the pages of countless books that allowed her imagination to soar. Whenever there was a Saints or LSU game on television, you could find Bonnie passionately cheering for her favorite teams.
Vacations held a special place in Bonnie's heart as they provided an opportunity for her to unwind and create unforgettable memories with those she cherished most - her family.
Bonnie leaves behind a loving family, including her children, grandchildren, and cherished friends. May they find solace in knowing how deeply she impacted the lives of others, and may they find comfort in the memories they shared together.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Wayne Champagne; son, Phillip Champagne (Adrienne); daughter, Jacki Muffoletto (Bobby Jr.); brother, Sidney Champagne, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Dave Champagne, Dana Champagne, Douglas "Gee" Champagne, Neal Champagne, and Bryan Miller; sisters-in-law, Jean Olivier, Darlene Champagne, Debbie Miller, Maudrey Champagne, Virginia Champagne, and Dianne Douet; grandchildren, Carson Champagne, Sarah Champagne, Abbi Muffoletto and Chance Muffoletto; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Bertha Breaux Champagne, Sr.; sisters, Geraldine Devillier and Genevieve Scoggin; brothers, Harold L. Champagne and Allen E. Champagne; In-laws, Phillip "Yute" and Maude Champagne; brothers-in-law, Donald Olivier and Cleff J. Devillier; and sisters-in-law, Anne L. Champagne and Glenda Champagne.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the entire staff at the Calcutta House, the nurses at Our Lady of Lourdes, and everyone that kept the family in their thoughts and prayers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations, in Bonnie's memory, be made to the Calcutta House of Hospice of Acadiana.
Pellerin Funeral Home (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
