St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Bonnie Yola Francis, 94, who passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at Landmark of Acadiana Nursing Home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7:00 am until 9:45 am on Saturday.
A rosary will be prayed at 8:30 am on Saturday.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery Mausoleum in St. Martinville.
Mrs. Francis was a member of the Goodwill Society Organization and Margaret's Mothers’ Club. She loved spending time and cooking for her family when they came to town. Bonnie was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Marie Gardner of St. Martinville, Barbara (Clarence) Batiste of St. Martinville, Aline Gardner of Houston, TX and Annette Gardner of St. Martinville; brothers, Emmanuel Gardner of Lafayette and Eldridge Gardner of CA; sisters, Rosaline Jones of Houston, TX and Mary Francois of Houston, TX; sister-in-law, Martha Gardner of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Kevin Batiste, Mandy (companion, Lionel) Batiste, Danette (Todd) Mitchell, Johnella (Zachary) Sam, Shanna Batiste; 13 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Francis; father, Steve Gardner; mother, Josephine Drake Gardner; brother, Evan Gardner, Sr.; two sisters, Hazel Hypolite and Josephine Mitchell; grandchild, Heather Ashyleigh Gardner; stepbrother, Alton Gardner; and stepsister, Edna Linden.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Batiste, Damontae Gardner, Davontae Gardner, Harvey Gardner, Glenn Gardner and Jalaun Gardner.
Honorary pallbearers will be Emmanuel Gardner, Clarence Batiste, Rev. John Patrick Gardner, Demarcus Jones, Even Gardner, Jr., Steven Mitchell, Steven Gardner, Raymond Hypolite and Ricky Hypolite.
The family wishes to thank the staff of A-Caring Home Health, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospice and Landmark Nursing Home for their compassion and care.
