St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Braylon "BB" Armonie Batiste, 15, who passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Dauterive Hospital. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 am until 10:30 am on Saturday. A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 am on Saturday. Rev. Michael Sucharski will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Loreauville. BB played football and ran track for St. Martinville Junior Senior High Schools. He played in the St. Martinville Baseball and Football League during the summer, and also played select ball for Chez Bandits. BB enjoyed hanging out with his family and friends, playing basketball, video games, swimming, going to the movies, skating, and eating out. Braylon was a parishioner of Notre Dame Catholic Church and a member of Our Savior's Church in Broussard. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his mother, Tomekia Lashan Vital and spouse Joseph Francis; father, Terry James Batiste, Jr. and spouse Roxanne Prejean; brother, DaMont Williams; sister, Jordyn S.M. Francis; special grandparents, Theresa Gardner and husband Kenneth; Catherine Berard and husband Shederick; Terry Batiste, Sr. and wife Earline, and Henry Fontenette, Sr.; great-grandmother, Inez Neveu; aunts, Bridgett Little, Melissa Castillo, Shantell Pradier, Kamika Vital, Tasha Etienne, Patrice Williams, and Cindy Batiste; uncles, Donald Lewis, Joshua Fontenette, Jeffery Batiste, Sr., and Terrance Etienne; godparents, Larry "Rollo" Jones, Jr., Melanie Neveu, and Whykenia Butler; and special cousin Davon Boutte. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Leo Hector; great-grandparents, Corneilus and Irene Hector, L.J., Sr. and Eula Chambers Vital, Joseph Neveu, Jr., and Rufus and Atrice Batiste. Honorary pallbearers will be St. Martinville Sr. High football players, coaches, and his family and friends.
