Brittney Claire Dugas

St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Brittney Claire Dugas, 17, who died Sunday, February 18, 2007 in Lafayette. Interment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville. Rev. Austin Leger, pastor of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, will conduct the funeral service, con-celebrants will be Rev. Jeff DeBlanc and Rev. Donald Pelous. The readers will be Allison Picard and Janey Boudreaux, and the gift bearers will be Mim Toups, Dale Barras, and Rene Oubre. Brittney was a student at Catholic High of New Iberia and a member of the Campus Ministry. She played soccer from age five through her junior year in high school. Brittney loved everyone, and everyone loved her. Survivors include her parents, Marc and Tammy Romero Dugas of St. Martinville; her brother, Ross Dugas of St. Martinville; her paternal grandparents, Carl and Melba M. Dugas of Catahoula; her maternal great grandmother, Leah Romero of New Iberia; and her special friend, Keisha Boutte of St. Martinville. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Thelma and Lazard Romero; her maternal great grandparents, Sidney Romero and Felecie and Bertrand Laperouse; and her paternal great grandparents, Hubert and Elphie Melancon and Abel and Theresa Dugas. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Monday and continue at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening. Pallbearers will be Ryan Toups, Jeffrey Toups, Devon Dugas, Brady Dugas, Alex Oubre, and Corey Olivier. Honorary pallbearers will be Wess Robison, Kyle Dore, Andrew Holleman, and Cody Mullen. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Catholic High Endowment Fund, 1301 DeLaSalle Drive, New Iberia, LA 70560. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
