Bruce Edward McLeod

Breaux Bridge- A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, August 26,2022 at Pellerin Funeral Home for Bruce Edward McLeod, 74, who passed away at Calcutta House in Lafayette.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:45 PM.

A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 AM on Friday.

Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the funeral service. Readers will be Tahanie Thibodeaux and Alyson McLeod Finch.

Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery #2.

Bruce was born December 20, 1947, in St. Martinville. He was a graduate of Breaux Bridge High School, where he excelled in academics and athletics. After high school, he attended Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe receiving his Pharmacy Degree. Bruce was a pharmacist for 51 years, owning and operating Thrifty Way Pharmacy on Moss Street in Lafayette, for majority of those years.

As a pastime, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, being on the water, and having his friends over at the camp in Pecan Island. He participated in numerous fishing rodeos and always caught the biggest fish...winning many trophies! An avid sports fan, Bruce would prepare for LSU tailgating a week in advance of each game. He loved watching the game, but most importantly he loved being around his family and friends while tailgating. His family was important to him, especially his two daughters and grandchildren. He made sure he was in attendance at every one of his grandkid's events...he was their number one fan.

Bruce was loving and devoted to his wife, daughters, grandchildren, family, and friends. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Kathleen Angelle McLeod; daughters, Kathryn "Kate" Thibodeaux (Tahanie) and Christian "C.C." Bienvenu (Jeff); grandchildren, Christiaan Thibodeaux, Adriana Thibodeaux, Austin Bienvenu, Landon Bienvenu and Greyson Bienvenu; and his brothers, Max McLeod (Sherry), Robert McLeod, and Scott McLeod.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Jeanette Broussard McLeod.

Pallbearers will be Austin Bienvenu, Landon Bienvenu, Tahanie Thibodeaux, Jeff Bienvenu, Max McLeod and Scott McLeod.

Memorial donations may be made in Bruce’s name to Calcutta House at Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Lafayette, LA 70503.
