St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 pm on Monday, July 12, 2021, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Buck A. Barras, 47, who passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, in Destin, Florida.The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday and continue on Monday at 7:00 am until 1:00 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Sunday by Father Kyle White of Teurlings Catholic High School.Reverend Michael Champagne will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Maudrey Durand and McKenzi Bienvenue. Eucharistic Ministers will be Dwight and Lucy Courville. Gift Bearers will be Charley Landry and Abby Poche. Music will be provided by Pat Melancon.Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Buck was a devout Catholic attending Bible studies and going to the Chapel at Community of Jesus Crucified. He was employed at St. Martin Oil since the age of 18. He was always a go-getter reaching for the stars. He and Loretta owned and operated Buck’s Quick Stop for 6 years. He also served as the Regional Manager at Reladyne for the past 4 years.Buck coached his kids in soccer and baseball. He was one who loved every kid as if they were his own. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. He was a big family man who knew no stranger. Everyone was family to Buck. He was always the life of the party.Buck leaves behind his loving wife and best friend, Loretta Landry Barras, of 23 years; his daughter, Erin Barras and son, Alex Barras of St. Martinville; his parents, Sheryl C. Barras of St. Martinville and Rickey Barras of Loreauville; sister, Calli Dressel and husband Jared of Loreauville; in-laws, Roland and Debbie Landry of Catahoula; brother-in-law, Toby and wife Brooke Landry of Coteau Holmes; and his Godchildren, McKenzi Bienvenue, Charley Landry, and Jaci Dressel.He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Louis and Maude Champagne and Merlin and Maudrey Barras.
