Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, on Monday, March 28, 2016, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Caffery "Caff" Bernard Alexander Sr., 87, who passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2016.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Sunday, and continue on Monday at 7:00 am until 10:30 am, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Sunday.
Rev. Joseph Campion will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge.
Caffery was cane cutter operator and a sugarcane farmer for 60 years. He was board member of the Sugar Cane Corp. and Farmers-Merchant Bank. His hobbies included shooting pool and riding horses. Caffery was an excellent role model and gave encouragement to his children, nieces, and nephews to guide them in making a good life for themselves.
He is survived by his loving sons, Patrick Alexander and wife Pamela Stewart of Breaux Bridge, Clifton Alexander and wife Norma of Houston, TX, Carlton Alexander and wife Mary of Crowley, Bernard Alexander and wife Tessie, Shelton Alexander and wife Dawn, and Ricky Alexander and wife Sandra, all of Breaux Bridge; his daughters, Patricia Alexander and husband Mark, Shirley Charles and husband Joseph, Sarah Lewis and husband Gilbert, and Rita Charles and husband Edward, all of Breaux Bridge; 64 grandchildren; 94 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Zenobia Abraham Alexander; sons, Caffery Alexander, Jr. and Freddie Alexander; his parents, Bernard and Sylvia Celestine Alexander; brothers, Joseph Roosevelt Alexander, Ervin Alexander, Sr., and Rochelle Alexander; and a grandchild, Jarrick Solomon.
Pallbearers will be Melton Alexander, Kendrick Alexander, Kordell Williams, Joesph Dural Jr., Joshua Lewis, and Earl Etienne.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Alexander, Shelby Lewis, Kendall Lewis, Jeremy Stewart, Demonstrell Alexander, Raylon Alexander, Quendez Alexander, Demarcus Williams, Clayton Stewart, Gilbert Lewis Jr., Leonard Rogers, and Tyrell Livings.
