Catahoula- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, January 24, 2025 at St. Rita Catholic Church honoring the life of Calvin J. Courville, 82, who passed away on January 18, 2025 at Landmark of Acadiana Nursing Home.
A visitation will take place at Dion Hall on Friday from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
A rosary will be prayed at 1:00 PM on Friday.
Rev. Bill Melancon will officiate at the funeral mass. Readers will be Tate Courville and Kamryn Vicknair.
Burial will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery.
Calvin James Courville was born on August 25, 1942, in St. Martin Parish. He led a life rich in work and family, deeply rooted in his community.
Calvin dedicated many years to the oil field industry as a tool pusher, where he demonstrated exceptional commitment and skill. Following his tenure in the oil field, he devoted himself to the alligator farm until the age of 76. His passion for the outdoors was evident in his love for fishing; he cherished moments spent catching crawfish, fish, and crabs. A proud and lifelong fireman in Catahoula, Calvin served his community with honor and dedication. In addition to his professional pursuits, Calvin found great joy in dancing and spent countless cherished hours with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his children, Melanie Courville (Scott), Travis Courville (Janice), Jason Courville (Tricia), Denise Courville (Cris) and, Mindi Courville (Brad);grandchildren, Tayga, Treylin, Tate (Mackenzie), Beau, Landon, Kamryn, Noah, Harlee, and Brennon; his companion, Betty Hebert; siblings, Larry Courville, Rogers Courville (Jeanette), Edrick Courville, Errol Courville (Pearl), Dwight Courville (Lucy), Debbie Landry (Roland) and, Claybert Courville (Robin); and one sister-in-law, Verline Courville.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jenny Courville; father, Alexon "Blanc" Courville; mother, Clelie "Kin" Courvillle; brother, Roy Courville; sisters-in-law, Corrine Courville and Lillie Courville.
Pallbearers will be Tate Courville, Beau Courville, Landon Courville, Noah Vicknair, Harlee Courville, Brennon Courville and Brent Hebert.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Landmark of Acadiana for the excellent care given to Calvin.
