St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 10, 2023, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Calvin "Tam" Mallery, Sr., 73, who passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at his residence.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in St. Martinville on Thursday, February 9, 2023, from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm. It will continue on Friday from 7:00 am until 10:30 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am on Friday morning.
Rev. Marvin Gyasie, S.V.D. will officiate at the Funeral Mass.
Inurnment will follow at a later date.
Calvin, affectionately known as "Tam", was a true family man. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Calvin worked as a crane operator in the oilfield for over 30 years. He was a die-hard Saints fan; on Sundays he enjoyed spending time outdoors, barbecuing and watching the football game. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Calvin was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Alfreda Smith Mallery; sons, Calvin Mallery, Jr. (LaCauncia) and Jeremy Mallery (Dakari); daughters, Racheal Coutee (Kendall), Lashondra John (Donald), and Beatrice Guidry (Tenlius, Sr.); bonus children, Jermaine, Dwayne, Jeffery, Sr., Moses, Shea, Crystal, Wayne, Terrance and Debbie; brother, Merrick Mallery, Jr. (Gladys); sisters, Helen Raymond and Norma Jean Gibson (Willie, Jr.); brother-in-law, Gene Michael Porter; grandchildren, Latravious, Markaysia, Trederious, Chyreon, Jamari, Deontre, Tamara, Tenlius, Jr., Peyton, Jhadavien, Tenasia, Tayjah, Carter, Korian, Darren, Alisha, Keone and Tanyia; great-grandchildren, Taylin, Desmond, Denim, Demoni and Shalea; godchildren, Carl, Sheryl, Romanus, Jr., Ronald and Justin; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by parents, Merrick Mallery, Sr. and Beatrice Mitchell Mallery; sister, Mary Louise Porter; brother, Marcel Mallery; brother-in-law, Nathaniel Raymond; and godfather and uncle, Victor Mallery.
Pallbearers will be Jermaine Benjamin, Dwayne Phillips, Quincy Mallery, Ronald Smith, Shea Lee, Sr. and Aaron Dangerfield.
Honorary pallbearers will be Trederious Mallery, Peyton Mallery, Jamari Mallery, Carter Mallery, Chyreon Charles, Deontre Taylor, Jhadavien Mallery, Tenilus Guidry, Donald John, Kendell Countee, Tenilus Guidry, Sr. and Darren Countee.
