Catahoula- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Monday, November 11, 2019, at St. Rita Catholic Church for Camille A. Blanchard, 88, who passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2019.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Dion Hall from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm on Sunday and continue on Monday at 7:00 am until 12:30 pm.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Sunday.
Rev. Bill Melancon will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Madison McNeese and Chelsie LeBlanc. Gift bearers will be Ida Trautman and Lexi Blanchard.
Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in Catahoula.
Camille was born in St. Martinville, Louisiana to the late May and Wilmer Blanchard, Sr. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Campaign. Camille retired after 33 years of service from Gulf Energy and later worked for the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Department for over 13 years. He was Scout Master for Troop 29 for 26 years. Camille's favorite hobbies were building cypress models, woodworking, and dancing to Cajun music. He enjoyed serving his church as an usher, Eucharistic minister, and board member. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and served as Justice of the Peace, but most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Camille will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Lillian Ann Theriot Blanchard; sons, Norman Blanchard and wife Tanya, Neal Blanchard and wife Dena, and Leland Blanchard and wife Stacy; daughters, Geralyn McNeese and Janice Pickard; brothers, Roy Blanchard and wife Annie, and Wilmer Blanchard, Jr.; sisters, Della Dupuis and husband Newton, Beulah Punch and husband Gerald, Carol Russo, Louise Bergeron and husband Clevens, Ida Trautman and husband Glynn, and Loula Dunlap and husband Terry; grandchildren, Chase, Mavis, Corey, Bailey, Chelsie, Taylor, Maci, Madison, and Lexi; and his great grandchildren, Greyson, Braxton, Cohen, Hayden, and baby Jace on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, May and Wilmer Blanchard, Sr.; an infant daughter, Mavis Blanchard; sisters, Katrina Patin and Sonja Blanchard; and brothers-in-law, Leon Russo and Roy Patin.
Pallbearers will be Norman Blanchard, Neal Blanchard, Leland Blanchard, Roy Blanchard, Chase Blanchard, and Corey McNeese.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wilmer Blanchard Jr. and Bernard Blanchard.
