St. Martinville - Camille Dautreuil Rivoire, 95, died at her home on May 3, 2008. ?A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. followed by internment at St. Michael's Cemetery.
Born on November 1 (All Saints Day), 1912, she was a saint to those who knew and loved her. ?She was a life-long member of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church. ?She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who gave selflessly of herself, always putting ther family's needs ahead of her own. ?She graduated from Southwestern Louisiana Institute with a degree in education and taught elementary school in St. Martin Parish for a number of years. ?She was also a meticulous and gifted homemaker, seamstress, and cook and took pride in sharing those talents. ?Along with her husband whose career in the dredging industry required frequent relocation, she traveled extensively and lived all along the Gulf Coast and even abroad. ?She made friends where ever she went and lovingly made each of her ""temporary"" residences a loving home. ?Those who knew her will forever fondly remember her lively spirit, strong faith, spunkiness, and her loving generous heart.
Camille, affectionately known by her friends and family and ""Cam,"" is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Frank Castille, of St. Martinville; three granddaughters, Traci Hollingsworth and her husband, Bruce, of Pass Christian, Mississippi, Dina Castille of River Ridge, Louisiana, and Julie Castille, of Lafayette, Louisiana; four great grandchildren, Victoria Castille and Hank Castro of River Ridge, Louisiana, Emily and Sara Hollingsworth of Pass Christian, Mississippi; one sister, Rita Miller of Jackson, Mississippi; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry ""Pete"" Rivoire, Sr.; her son, Henry ""Hank"" Rivoire, Jr.; and infant son; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Dautreuil, Sr.; a brother, Joseph Dautreuil, Jr.; a sister, Maydelle Dautreuil; a brother-in-law, Joseph H. Miller, Sr.; and her sister-in-law, Celine Dautreuil.
Pallbearers will be Joseph H. Miller, Jr., Steven Miller, Michael Miller, Brandon Miller, Bruce Hollingsworth, and Frank Castille.
Our heartfelt thanks to Dianne Aucoin, Mazel Courville and Sally Gaudin, for the loving care given to her during these last years. ?You have our everlasting gratitude. ?Also a special thanks to the staff of Hospice of Acadiana and especially to ""Jo"" for your dedication and support.
Visitation will be at Pellerin's Funeral Home in St. Martinville on Tuesday, May 6, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m. The funeral home will reopen at 8 a.m. on Wednesday until 10:30 a.m.
