Lydia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 17, 2015, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia, for Captain Elvis Jeanminette, 57, who passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015, in Grand Marais. Rev. Greg Chauvin will be the Celebrant. Entombment will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery in Patoutville. A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 7:00 AM until 12 Noon at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 AM Saturday. Captain Jeanminette was born on November 27, 1957, and was a retired U.S. Postmaster. A U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Captain, he was founder of Top Rod Bass Classic Fishing Tournament, owner of Top Rod Fishing Charters, LLC, president of Iberia B.A.S.S., vice president of the Louisiana Bass Federation, and a member of the Iberia Rod and Gun Club, and the Enterprise Social Club. He was also the organizer of the "Take A Kid Fishing", CASA Casting for Kids Tournaments, presidents and originator of the "Big Shot Bass Tournament", and a Radio Host for the "Top Rod Fishing Show". A devout Catholic, Captain Jeanminette was a member of the Holy Name Society, and the Optimist Club. He was a lifelong fishing enthusiast. He is survived by his wife, Bernadette Phillips Jeanminette of Grand Marais; father, Horace F. Jeanminette of Grand Marais; three daughters, Tiffany Netters and husband Ike of Metairie, Kimberly Lewis and husband Jamal of Broussard, Chassidy Olainu-alade and husband Issac of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Felix Jeanminette and wife Patrice of Grand Marais, Steve Jeanminette and wife Laura of Grand Marais, LA; two sisters, Tammy Lavine and husband Kirk of Tallahassee, FL, Maxine Jones and husband Warren of Grand Marais; six grandchildren, Israel Rose Netters, Jamar "Duece" Lewis, Isaac Netters, Jr., Phillip "Jide" Olainu-Alade, Morgan Grace Netters, and Madison Jaye Lewis; . He is preceded in death by his mother, Audrey Mae Boutte Jeanminette. Pallbearers will be Phillip Delahoussaye, Byron Smith, George Norwood, Tommy Lipari, Craig Frilot, Leon Minvielle, Leonard "T-Clyde" Norbert and Ryan Sonnier. Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd., New Iberia, LA 70560, 337-365-3331, is in charge of arrangements.
