Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Carl Edwin Underwood Sr., 74, who passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2018.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 8:00 am until 2:30 pm on Thursday.
A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 am on Thursday.
Rev. Stephen Pellessier will officiate at the Funeral Service.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Mr. Underwood enjoyed walking around town, traveling to the beach, watching Georgia Bulldog football, and having coffee with his work buddies. During his free time, he enjoyed reading a good book and doing crossword puzzles. Mr. Underwood took loving care of his son and wife after his retirement. He cherished moments spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Kip Underwood and wife Courtney and Carl Underwood Jr. both of Breaux Bridge; daughters, Lisa Thibodeaux and husband Jody, Kristy Underwood, and Kim Beazley all of Breaux Bridge; brothers, Gene Underwood and wife Sylvia of Bluffton, SC, Wayne Underwood and wife Jana of Savannah, GA; grandchildren, Jared Beazley, Jordon Beazley, Jake Beazley, Drew Thibodeaux, Drake Thibodeaux, Kale Doiron, and Kailyn Doiron; and 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Earline Underwood; father, Rufus Underwood; mother, Cuba Underwood; brothers, Rufus "RJ" Underwood and David Underwood; sisters, Vera Parker and Gwen Causey; and son-in-law, Greg Beazley.
Pallbearers will be Tony Delhomme, Kip Underwood, Jody Thibodeaux, Eric Guidry, Richard Guidry, and Toby Latiolais.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Blodgett, Glenn Landry, Tommy Mercer, Harvey Thomassee, and Chuck McDowell.
Family would like to give special thanks to his daughters, Kim and Kristy, and grandson, Jake, for their compassion, love, and care during his life. Also, thanks to Grace Hospice, especially Alicia, for the love and support to the family.
