Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Monday, February 18, 2013, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Carlton Moise "Kit" Castille, 86, who passed away on Friday, February 15, 2013, surrounded by the prayers of his loving family at his side. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday, and continue on Monday at 7:00 am until 10:30 am. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Sunday, led by his grandchildren. Rev. Neil McNeill will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by his granddaughters, Sadie Brackin and Dottie Perry, and Gifts will be presented to the Altar by his granddaughters. Honored to serve as his Pallbearers, are his grandsons. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge. 'Kit,' as he was well-known by everyone, was a veteran of World War II, having honorably served his country in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. A devout Catholic, he was a lifelong parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church, where he served as an Usher and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. 'Papa' as he was known by his grandchildren and great grandchildren was very passionate about his horses, his vegetable garden and farming. But the thing that gave him the most joy in his later years was spending time with his twenty-one grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He loved hearing about their accomplishments and was always so proud of them. He loved to laugh and loved hearing about funny stories or things they said. Kit was an owner and trainer of horses, working as a farrier (horseshoer) with Evangeline Downs Racetrack for 36 years prior to his retirement, and was a member of the HBPA Horsemens Association. He also worked as a bus driver for the St. Martin Parish School Board for 25 years. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Dorothy Jean Delhomme Castille; two sons, Shane Castille and his wife, Toni, and Lee Castille and his wife, Tee; five daughters, Bonnie Landry, Teddy Frederick and her husband, Gill, Mina Dekle, and her husband, Steve, Christine Angelle and her husband, Todd, and, Jeannie Begnaud, and her husband, Chester; two brothers, Raymond Castille and his wife, Maxine, and Richard Castille and his wife, Shannon, all of Breaux Bridge; 21 grandchildren, Jon Paul Landry, Mary-Elizabeth Carle, Sanders Castille, Sadie Brackin, Mamie Credeur, Ross Frederick, Dottie Perry, Rebecca Gauthier, Kate Gary, Kells, Shae, Maggie, Callen, and Maurah Castille, Alex, Adam, Olivia, and Caroline Angelle, Noah and Nicholas Picard, and Paul Begnaud; and 12 great grandchildren, Raymie and Addie Joy Landry, Lila Rose and Isaac Brackin, Audrey and Henry Credeur, Emma-Grace and Isabelle Perry, Savannah Gauthier, Sloane Castille, London Castille, and Quinn Poche. He is preceded in death by his son, Rocky Castille; his parents, Moise and Angelina Broussard Castille; a brother, Melvin Castille; two sisters, Lorraine Lopez and Lula Mae Bienvenu; and a son-in-law, Jeff Picard.
