New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 4, 2010 at St. Peters Catholic Church in New Iberia for Carolyn Carrie Dupuy Burke, 88 who died Monday, February 01, 2010 in New Iberia.
Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
Rev. Charles Langlois will be the Celebrant.
Born February 9, 1921, Mrs. Burke was a longtime resident of New Iberia. She attended Newcomb College in New Orleans and SLI. A founding member of the Bayou Art Gallery, and a member of the Junior Fortnightly Club, she enjoyed painting and gardening.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Colonel Dracos Burke of New Iberia; sons, Michael C. Burke and wife Mary Ann of Bellevue, Nebraska, Deacon Patrick D. Burke and wife Barbara of New Iberia, Thomas L. Burke and wife Christina of Norman, Oklahoma; daughters, Mary Celeste Callahan and husband Richard Callahan of Denver, Colorado, Kathleen T. Haik and husband Judge Richard Haik of Lafayette; sister, Mary D. Roane of Jeanerette; 18 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Jules Dupuy and Mary Keller Dupuy; and a son, Alan D. Burke.
Pallbearers will be Richie Haik, Jr., Tim Callahan, Colin Callahan, William Burke, David Burke, James Burke, and Eric Burke.
A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Wednesday. Visitation will continue Thursday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM.
