Born in Lafayette, Louisiana, on January 7, 1936, to George Patin and Mabel Harson Patin, Carrol finished school and immediately enlisted in the Louisiana National Guard, and then enlisted into the United States Air Force. As an MP, Carrol and his German Shepherd service dog, Rex, proudly served in Korea. Carrol then continued his service in the United States. Once his service was over, Carrol came home and started his life in Lafayette, Louisiana, with Braun Welding Supply. There he met the love of his life, Mary Prejean Patin. They married on February 4, 1963, and Carrol went on to enjoy 58 beautiful years of marriage with her. Carrol later started working for Bayou Boeuf Electric and rose to General Manager, and eventually made his home in New Iberia. Together, Carrol and Mary welcomed three daughters and a son into the world. They remained the light of his life, and that light shone even brighter with the later arrivals of his seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. It’s impossible to fully capture who Carrol was and to fit 85 years of memories into a few sentences. But Carrol’s family will remember him first and foremost for his kindness, good humor, warmth, and love of old Western films and shows. If you visited Carrol, one of two things would be on the TV: either the news or The Westerns Channel. He loved to BBQ, go camping, and make the rounds across Acadiana to visit his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his many friends. His love was unfaltering for each and every one of his family members. Carrol is survived by his loving wife, Mary Patin, and their four children: Andrea Fremin and her husband, Hoyt Fremin; Lisa Mallet and her husband, Terry Mallet; Carol Haagenson and her husband, Michael Haagenson; and Christopher Patin and his wife, Maria Patin. Other survivors include Carrol’s seven grandchildren, Heather Huynh (and her husband, Son Huynh), Tren Mallet, William Keenze II, Angelle Mallet (and her fiancee,RJ Schenck), Alyson Keenze, Benjamin Patin, and Matthew Patin; his four great-grandchildren, Khai Huynh, Lucas Huynh, Laila Huynh, and Myra Stoltz; and his two sisters, Margaret Quirk and Lorraine Davis. He is preceded in death by his parents, George Patin and Mabel Harson Patin, as well as one grandson, Alec Christopher Patin. Serving as pallbearers are Michael Haagenson, Christopher Patin, Terry Mallet, Son Huynh, Hoyt Fremin and RJ Schenck.Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd., New Iberia, LA 70560 (337-365-3331) is in charge of arrangements.<iframe class="ts_player" allowfullscreen="true" allowtransparency="true" allow="autoplay; fullscreen" frameborder="0" height="330" scrolling="no" src="https://www.tributeslides.com/videos/embedded_video/T3SZDNTSFWWZFC9K" width="512"></iframe>
