Carrol "Papaw" Romero, Sr.

New Iberia – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 pm on Friday, March 31, 2023, at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church, for Carrol Paul Romero, Sr., 83, who passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023.

Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum.

Msgr. J. Robert Romero will be the Celebrant.

Visitation will be Friday from 9:30 am until 2:15 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be prayed at 10:00 am on Friday.

A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Romero was born on August 1, 1939, to the late Clevis Romero, Sr. and Julia LeBlanc Romero. He worked as a carpenter, and his hobbies included woodcarving, leather working, and gardening. Mr. Romero had a passion for horses, and he dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mr. Romero was a very stubborn, but gentle man. He was the best son, brother, husband, dad, and PaPaw.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Brenda Bourque Romero; children, Tony Romero, Rachel Romero Landry (Chad), Scott Romero (Heather Newman), Carrol Romero, Jr. (Sarah); grandchildren, Molly Broussard (Buster), Tara Romero, Damon Romero, Cammie Romero, Kryslin Guillotte (Aaron), Ali Scully (Nick), Jade Romero (Lexi), Emmi Romero, Connor Newman, Colby Baker, Kagon Hebert (Morgan), Peyton Pommier, Oliver Romero, Valerie Romero, Roman Romero, and Tabitha Romero; 9 great grandchildren; siblings, Lloyd Romero, Lawrence Romero, Virginia Buteaux (Raywood), Betty Romero (Kerry), Beverly Simon (Lester), Linda Sundberg (Mike), and Julie Naquin (Lonnie); sisters-in-law, Linda Romero, Gayle Johnson, and Dorothy Choate; and numerous neices and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Romero was preceded in death by two brothers, Clevis Romero, Jr. and Larry Romero; mother-in-law, Odell Walker; sister-in-law, Verna Romero; brothers-in-law; Mike Sundberg, Lester Simon, and Howard Bourque, Jr.
