Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 18, 2019, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Carroll Pierre Champagne, 90, who passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at St. Agnes Healthcare & Rehab Center.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Wednesday and continue on Thursday at 7:00 am until 1:30 pm.
A rosary will be prayed by Vienna Champagne at 7:00 pm on Wednesday.
Deacon Jim Davis will officiate at the Funeral Service. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge.
Mr. Champagne enjoyed working with horses, training jockeys, gardening, hunting, listening to Cajun music, cooking and making popcorn balls. He will be remembered as being a man of his word, his kindness towards others, and his warm, smiling face.
He is survived by his son, Shane Champagne and wife Mary of Breaux Bridge; step-daughters, Vickie Melancon Guchereau and husband Butch, and Judy Melancon Theriot and husband Harold, all of Breaux Bridge; step-son, Larry Melancon and wife Denise of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Shawntelle Bergeron and spouse Carl of Breaux Bridge, Cassidy Champagne of Breaux Bridge, and Courtney Johnson and spouse Angie of Breaux Bridge; step-grandchildren, Anthony Hollier, Jamie Theriot, Angelique Bishop, Heather Schapansky, and Lance Melancon; 6 great granddaughters; 6 step-great grandchildren; and his brother, Eugene Champagne and wife Vienna of Breaux Bridge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre and Jeanne Hebert Champagne; his first wife, Gertie Montet; second wife, Winona Landry Champagne; two sons, Michael Dale Champagne and Carroll Dale Champagne; and his sister, Hazel Angelle.
Pallbearers will be Courtney Johnson, Cassidy Champagne, Brent Champagne, Blake Champagne, Brook Champagne, and Dwight Angelle.
Honorary pallbearers will be Eugene Champagne and Larry Melancon.
