Carroll J. Duhon, Sr.

New Iberia – A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Carroll J. Duhon, Sr., 67, who passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023, in Vermilion Parish.  

Deacon Durk Viator will officiate.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1:00pm until 3:00pm on Tuesday.

Entombment will be at a later date.

Carroll J. Duhon, Sr. was born in Jeanerette, Louisiana on July 16, 1956, to the late Mary Louise Cormier and Whitney Duhon, and was adopted by the late Freddy and Evelyn Meyers, who played significant roles in shaping the person he became.

In his professional life, Carroll worked as a commercial fisherman. The open waters held a special place in his heart as he spent countless hours pursuing his passion. He possessed remarkable skills that were honed over years of hard work and dedication. Carroll's craftsmanship was renowned among those who knew him best; he became a true jack of all trades due to his mechanical know-how and ability to fix just about anything.

Carroll's love for fishing extended beyond his career; it was also one of his favorite hobbies. Whenever he had the opportunity, he would cast his line into the water, immersing himself in the serenity of nature. Hunting was another pastime that brought him great joy. Whether it was fishing or hunting, Carroll embraced these activities with enthusiasm and expertise, creating lasting memories along the way.

Carroll's memory will live on through his surviving family and friends, including his children, Carolyn Leiker (husband Nicholas), Aspize Duhon, Carroll Duhon, Jr., and Cypress Duhon; grandchildren, Mariah Duhon, Dedrick Etienne Jr., Mykel Duhon, Izaiah Etienne, Jaide Parker, Madelyn Duhon, Eaven Duhon, and Karter Duhon; a great-grandchild, Kehlani Duhon; brothers, Francis Duhon and Allen Romero (wife Angie); and sisters, Betty Granger (husband Elray), Eldora "Meon" Perry (husband Sam), Tricia Ibarra, and Nita Alario (husband Garon). 

In addition to his parents and adoptive parents, Carroll was preceded in death by a daughter, Savannah Duhon; sister, Mary Ann Migues; and brothers, Ronnie Duhon, Billy Duhon, and Michael Duhon. 

Carroll had an unwavering love for family and friends that shone through every aspect of his life. He held dear to his heart those who were closest to him and treasured the moments spent together. He leaves behind a legacy built upon love and devotion. His warm smile and kind-hearted nature will forever be remembered.
