New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 PM Monday, October 15, 2007, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, in New Iberia for Carroll J. Mestayer, 84, who died Saturday, October 13, 2007 at his residence in Loreauville.
Entombment will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum.
A native and longtime resident of New Iberia, Mr. Mestayer was a resident of Loreauville for the past five years. He is a retired dragline operator, having worked for Brown and Root for over 35 years. He enjoyed horseracing and dancing.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Romero Mestayer; daughter, Carolyn M. Henry and husband Terry of New Iberia; son, Wade M. Mestayer and wife Elise Mixon Mestayer of New Iberia; brother, Forbus Mestayer and wife Myrtle of Loreauville; sisters, Norma "Sis" Bazer of New Iberia, Merle Williams of Arkansas, Donna Faye Lanza and husband Charles of New Iberia; grandchildren, Jillian M. Moore and Claudia S. Moore, both of New Iberia, Zachary J. Mestayer of Baton Rouge; great grandchildren, Taysha and Bryce, both of New Iberia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raoul and Norma Neuville Mestayer; son, Clayton J. Mestayer; brothers and sisters, Donald Mestayer, Raoul Mestayer, Sharon M. Luccas, Audrey M. Labry, Muriel Mestayer, Karen Mestayer, and Luceille Mestayer.
A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday, from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be at 7:00 PM Sunday. Visitation will continue Monday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
