Breaux Bridge A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, on Thursday, October 30, 2014, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Cassie Joseph Alexander, Jr., 61, who passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2014, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:00 am until 10:00 am on Thursday, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary will be recited at 8:00 am on Thursday.
Rev. Joseph Campion will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Jonathan Victor and Mildred Alexander. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery.
Cassie was employed by St. Martin Parish Government, where he served as the Director of Public Works. He was a 1971 graduate of Breaux Bridge High School and a 1976 graduate of Southern University in Baton Rouge. He was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver and True Friends of LaPointe.
Cassie enjoyed cooking for his family and friends, traveling, and watching football and basketball. He will long be remembered for all of the kind and wonderful things he did for his community.
He is survived by his wife, Wilder Elaire Alexander of Arnaudville; his father, Cassie Joseph Alexander, Sr. of Breaux Bridge; two daughters, Simone Barnes and husband, Glenn, of Cleveland, TX, and Brandy Alexander of Breaux Bridge; three grandchildren, Taylor Barnes, Tarik Barnes, and Kayce Charles; six brothers, Robert Alexander and wife, Delores, Howard Alexander, all of Breaux Bridge, Lloyd Alexander and wife, Ida, of Lafayette, Joseph Alexander and wife, Martha, of Breaux Bridge, Richard Alexander and wife, Lorrine, of Houston, TX, and Patrick Alexander of Breaux Bridge; three sisters, Helen Clement, Judy Lawal and husband, Lambo, all of Houston, TX, and Paula Alexander of Breaux Bridge.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Alberta Davis Alexander; and two nephews, Cedrick James Clement and Kirby J. Alexander.
Pallbearers will be Peter Victor, Evans Ozen, Nolan Auguillard, Glenn Barnes, Karrell Charles, and Jonathan Victor.
Honorary pallbearers will be his six brothers, Robert, Howard, Lloyd, Joseph, Richard, and Patrick Alexander, Rodney Roberts, Robbie Gilmore, Kenneth Barnes, Charles Boudreaux, Allen Paul, Lavin Jones, and Martin Wilridge.
