VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., on Thursday, June 26, 2008, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Catherine Anne "Kitty" Barras, 54, who passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2008. Entombment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Reverend Fr. Louis Allen Breaux, Associate Pastor of St. Bernard Catholic Church, will officiate at the funeral Mass and conduct the service. Scripture readings will be read by Betty Hymel and Alice Barras. Gift bearers will be Dorothy Savoy, Marie Hebert, and Gladys B. Coy. Ms. Barras worked as an Installment Department Manager at Lafayette General Medical Center. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution - New Iberia Chapter, and the "Sleep on the Street Mardi Gras Crew." "Kitty" loved traveling all over the United States and has traveled to every state at least once in her lifetime, taking many pictures (which she loved) and compiling scrapbook memories for all to enjoy. She enjoyed going to the movies on a weekly basis and was an avid football fan and collector of football memorabilia for the past 40 years. She always looked forward to and loved attending family gatherings. "Kitty" will be sadly missed by her family, friends and the friends she had met throughout her travels. Survivors include her mother, Virginia Ruth Smith Barras, of St. Martinville; two brothers, Herbert Paul "Herb" Barras, Jr., of St. Martinville and Allen Lee Barras and his wife, Karen Lynn, of River Ridge; one sister, Mary Ruth Barras Suter Armstrong, of Kenner; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and her constant companions, her two cats, "Spirit" and "Blackie," whom she loved and adored. She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert Paul Barras, Sr.; her first husband, Eluse "E.J." Babineaux; her second husband, Randall Gaspard; her paternal grandparents, Alcide J. Barras and Pella Barras Labit; and her maternal grandparents, Albert and Martha Smith. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4 p.m. on Wednesday and continue until 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Pallbearers will be James Suter, William Armstrong, Colby Simon, Ricky Simon, Kirk Barras, Shannon Barras, and James "T-Boy" Barras. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
