Catherine Champagne

St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Catherine ""Cat"" Durand Champagne, 81 who died Sunday, Februrary 26, 2006 at Consolata Nursing Home in New Iberia. Entombment will be in St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville. Mrs. Champagne was a supportive wife, loving and caring mother, who will be missed dearly. Survivors include her husband, Harris James Champagne, Sr. of St. Martinville; one son, Harris ""Jimmy"" Champagne, Jr. of St. Martinville; three daughters, Catherine Champagne of Baton Rouge, Mary Margaret Girouard and her husband, Ray of Broussard, and Elizabeth Anne Champagne of St. Martinville; two brothers, Francis Durand of Aransas Pass, TX and Allen Durand of Lafayette; two sisters, Claire Haydel and Elizabeth ""Betty"" Durand, both of St. Martinville; eight grandchildren, Mark and James Johnson, Rachael Naquin, Kirk Girouard, Gentry and Tracie Peltier, Ryan and Shaun Champagne; and three great grandchildren, Lexie and Ben Girouard, and Kaleigh Naquin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Louisiana DeBlanc Durand; her granddaughter, Julie Johnson; two brothers; and three sisters. The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 a.m. ~ 9:00 pm. on Tuesday and continue at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Pellerin Funeral Homes of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
