St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Cecile Sam, 80, who passed away on Monday, March 27, 2017 at her residence.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7:00 am until 9:30 am on Saturday. A rosary will be prayed at 8:00 am on Saturday.
Rev. Michael Sucharski will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Cecile was blessed with a beautiful family that was brought up to love and respect everyone. She enjoyed attending her weekly Masses, praying the rosary, cooking, listening to music, traveling, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Mindie Duhon and husband Lawrence of Carencro, Melinda Sam of St. Martinville, and Billie Jane Marshall and husband Kelton of St. Martinville; sons, William Sam, Jr. and wife Theresa of St. Martinville, Gregory Sam and wife Lorena of Breaux Bridge, and Graylin Sam of New Iberia; sisters, Ola Bruno and husband Harold, Sr. of Carencro, and Carolyn Green and husband Floyd of Houston, TX; brother, Morris Thomas of St. Martinville; grandchildren, Markeyer, Ebony, Carmen, Aveyon, Idoleska, Myosha, Simone, Cameriya, Kelton, Jr., Lil William III, Tiana, Lashunda, Lunecca, Alanna, Lashan, Dwanna, Jasmin, Shanaka, and Lindsey; and her 20 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, William Sam, Sr.; her parents, Jerome Thomas, Sr. and Lucille LeBlanc Thomas; her sister, Mary Lucille Thomas; and brothers, Joseph Calvin Thomas, Joseph J. C. Thomas, and Jerome Thomas, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Kelton Marshall, Sr., Kevin Mallery, Sr., O'Shea Sellers, Carlos Papillion, John Thomas, and Jonell Thomas.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Gregory Sam, William Sam, Jr., Graylin Sam, Morris Thomas, Floyd Green, and Harold Bruno.
