St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Cecile Gerard Wiltz, 95, who passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2013. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in St. Martinville from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Friday and continue at 7:00 am until 10:30 am on Saturday. Rev. Stanley Jawa SVD will officiate at the funeral service. Reading her obituary will be Valana Wiltz. Reading the scriptures will be Ozita Pierre Egby, Nia and Cheryl Mendy. Gift bearers will be Hope Batiste Menard, Mary Ann Anthony and Lorena Wiltz. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville. On the morning of May 29, 2013 at the hour of 5:17 a.m., Death Angel came into the room of Mrs. Cecile Wiltz at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette and took her home to meet her maker where there will be no more pain and suffering. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Duplain Gerard. She was a true Christian woman helping anyone and everyone that she could and attended mass every week until her health started failing. The community will remember her as the lady who attended every funeral and wedding. She will surely be missed by the community. She is survived by her daughters, Beverly Watterson and Lois Williams both of New Orleans; her sons, Rodney Gerard of Sterling, VA, Cesal (Mary) Wiltz, Sr. of St. Martinville and Warren (Valencia) Wiltz of Alpharetta, GA; her niece who was more like a daughter, Jenny Batiste; her sister, Modella Gerard; her grandchildren, Walleen Williams, Sean Wiltz, Valana Wiltz, Casey Wiltz, Cesal Wiltz, Jr., Kaye Cormier, Lauren Emily Gerard, Jadyn Gerard and Jayna Gerard; and 11 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Wiltz; her parents, Duplain and Cecile Francois Gerard; her daughter, Perita Wiltz; her sisters, Lucille Pierre, Rose Pierre, Juanita Mallery, Edna Anthony and Modeste Albert; and her brother, Moderon Gerard. Pallbearers will be Cesal Wiltz Jr., Casey Wiltz, Sean Wiltz, Lee Arthur Pierre, Noel Albert and Terrance Menard. Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Batiste, Paul Gerard, Bernard Pierre, Duplantis Pierre, Lance Batiste, Nolan Mallery, Robert Mallery, Norman Mallery and Nelson Albert. The family would like to extend a special 'Thank You' to the staff of St. Martin Rehab and Nursing Center, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital staff, Georgette Louviere, Linda Porter, Laura Marshall, Sandra Hypolite and to Dr. Debra Durham.
