Centerville - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, September 7, 2009, at Calvary Bible Church, 8900 Hwy. 182, Centerville, LA, for Charles Jerome Ashley, Sr., 70, who passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at his residence in Breaux Bridge.
Interment will follow at Presbyterian Cemetery in Centerville.
Pastor Curtis Pace will conduct the funeral service.
Mr. Ashley received his degree in Industrial Arts from U.S.L. in 1980, and then later went to work for MetLife as an insurance agent until he became disabled. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time.
Survivors include five sons, Charles J. Ashley, Jr., of Youngsville, Kenneth Ashley, Sr., of Bourg, Donald E. Ashley (Gerilyn), Louis W. Ashley (Glenda), all of Breaux Bridge, and Steven Quentin Ashley, of Lafayette; four brothers, Darl Ashley, of Bayou Sorrel, Louis Ashley, of Baldwin, Winston Ashley, of Virginia, and Huey Ashley, of St. Martinville; three sisters, Florence Templet, of Bayou Sorrel, Eldora Allen, of Tatem, TX, and Dorothy Beamon, of Baton Rouge; and five grandchildren, Kerilynn Ashley, Kenneth Ashley, Jr., Matt Ashley, Nicholas Ashley, and Joshua Ashley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Van Buren Ashley and Leontine Pisarello Ashley; two brothers, Buril and Calvin Ashley; and a sister, Flavia Kelly.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Calvary Bible Church on Monday, September 7, 2009, from 10 a.m. until 1:45 p.m.
